About Student Internships at Fantasy Studios

Who can apply? Due to California labor laws, our internship program requires that all interns receive school credit for their time here.  Unfortunately, if you are not a student, we cannot consider your application for an unpaid internship.  We do not offer paid internships at this time.

Do you need to talk to my teacher? Because internship program requirements vary by school, we must be in contact with your supervisor, instructor, or program administrator before the start of each internship, as well as throughout the semester, in order to verify your enrollment in the course for which you are receiving credit.

How will I be graded? Your advisor will need to send us any appropriate paperwork and let us know how you are to be graded per the requirements of the program so that we can ensure that all requirements are being met.  We will fill out any required evaluations, and will check in with you periodically throughout the course of your internship as well.  Please note that there is a probationary period of five (5) working days, and that all internships are at-will and can be terminated at any time by the intern or by Fantasy Studios.

What can I expect to learn? Our interns’ objectives vary slightly depending on the needs of their programs (as well as their individual interests), and we will work with your supervisor, instructor, or program administrator to create attainable goals.  Regardless, you should be prepared to spend the first few weeks learning the ropes: making coffee, restocking control rooms and lounges, running errands for clients, assisting with front desk/phone duties, and generally learning the workings of the studio.  If your interests lie in recording/audio engineering, it may be possible for you to progress to assisting our staff engineers with session setup and teardown, cleaning/organizing gear, and other technical tasks.  If your interests are in marketing/business, you may be able to assist with marketing initiatives and office management duties.  Of course, all assignments are subject to both our needs and your capabilities and performance.

What else do I need to know? We expect all interns to maintain a professional attitude, to arrive promptly each day, and to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.  If you are interested in an internship position, please send your resume and cover letter to Allison Gomer (agomer@fantasystudios.com).
